Wilderness Journey Review

Its NOT too late to book a trip!!.... The 2008 BWCA season with Wilderness Journey is almost fully booked.  If you still have interest in booking a trip this year, you still have a chance!  Even if you are not sure about how many individuals will be in your group, you can hold the week with your deposit and add on later.

Wilderness Journey Rendezvous

Saturday, May10th  10am- RSVP by April 30th!

For those who have booked a trip for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and others who dream about it… come spend the day with us!  This is strongly recommended for Wilderness Journey clients to prepare for their trip.  Outdoor enthusiasts and friends of Wilderness Journey are also welcome.

  • 10 am- Participate in our seminar to learn about camp setup and safety, canoe paddling, portaging, meet your guide and more!  We will have a simulated campsite set up so that you can see the equipment we will be using on our trips.
  • 12 noon- Enjoy a BBQ lunch hotdogs, burgers, and the fixings along with some snacks and drinks.
  • Canoe Kent Lake- a part of the Huron River system. There will be 2 shifts of canoes going out while the others stay on shore to review their BWCA routes and maps, list of required clothing and recommended fishing gear etc.  
  • Share the day with others who also enjoy outdoor adventure.
  •  Feel free to bring your own canoe, fishing gear, bikes or hiking apparel to explore the area. 

Directions: 
Island Lake State Recreation Area
: I-96 and the Kensington Exit 151 in Brighton/Milford area on the south side of the expressway. The entrance is the 1st one south of Grand River on the east of Kensington Road.  Ask the person at the gate ($6 park entry fee) for directions to where the Wilderness Journey group is meeting.

WJ clients can also include $7.50 if you would like a map of your BWCA area.  Some clients will need more than one map so contact us if you want to know how many maps you need.

Walk-ins are welcome but since our canoes are in Ely, Minnesota, we will be renting canoes from a local livery and providing lunch so we need an estimated head count before the day.  Those who RSVP with a deposit will be get priority to utilize the canoes.  Rain or shine- the show will go on so prepare for the weather accordingly.
